About
Welcome!
I’m Sydney Johnson, and I am so glad you decided to drop in to the Endless Design Lab! I am a born and raised military brat with a passion for creating and designing everything in my life! From decorating for the holidays, to making new clothes, to trying new baking techniques, to refinishing my house. I’m here to try it out for you and make mistakes so you don’t have to! I want to help you find the easiest and best ways to create some pretty amazing things!
A little about myself: I am married to my wonderful husband Scot and we have one son named Fjor. We also have two dogs and a cat. I grew up at a young age traveling the world and appreciating every culture for their differences and nuances. When my family stopped moving and my dad finally retired I finished up school in Fredericksburg, VA. I followed my dream of becoming a music teacher by earning my Bachelors of Music Education at James Madison University.
I taught elementary music for 5 years and loved every second of it! Seeing my students faces light up through the joy of music made me feel like I was making a difference in the world. Chorus concerts were the biggest deal of all! I would always come up with some way to make the production dramatic, whether it be throwing fake snow at the audience or choreographing eighty elementary schoolers to dance to a swing dance song. I wouldn’t have wanted to do anything else with my life! Unfortunately, some health complications arose and it required me to step away from the stresses of teaching. It must have been God speaking to me because sure enough, the craziness of 2020 happened and it would have pushed my stress and medical issues to the breaking point.
When I left teaching, I didn’t know what to do with myself. My husband joked saying that I was tearing the house a part. I started remodeling our master bathroom. (Completely GUTTING it mind you…. no walls, no plumbing…) Then I revamped our basement bathroom. Next was learning how to bake more efficiently. Then I learned how to crochet, then sew, then scrapbook. The list goes on and on and on. Finally my Aunt, Julia Artbauer (you can find her amazing home, kitchen, and bath remodels here: www.jartbauerdesign.com) mentioned that I should share all of my projects and not just on Facebook. “Start a blog!” she said.
So here I am! I’m a musician through and through but my love for music has recently been trying to share the stage with my love for PROJECTS! I’m addicted to always having a project. It gives me a different kind of happiness and makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. It drives my husband crazy, but he loves me anyway.
I am so glad you’ve decided to check out what I have going on here!
Get ready to explore, experiment, and have fun, because designing is always an endless project!
